What is Atlas?
"A place to come when you don't know where else to turn."
Atlas is a mentor based, prayer driven ministry that provides personal development services to individuals and families who are hurting for a variety of reasons.
Atlas is a safe, confidential place to come in and let it all out. Our services are free to the public. We listen, encourage, and pray with folks who come through our door.
Although every Atlas has the same mission and core values, each Atlas looks differently based upon the needs of the community and focus set by the local leadership.

why is this important?
Statistics show us that 9 out of 10 people who move out of poverty do so because of one person who walked with them. Jesus also tells us to make disciples. His display of this was not getting people to a church service, but by having his followers walk along side of others, often those in physical, financial, mental, emotional, or spiritual strife.
what is the need in lincoln?
There is a great need for people to find Christian love and mentoring when they face hurt, need, and fear. As Christ shares, "The harvest is plentiful and the workers are few." The neighborhoods in which we operate are known for their population density, crime, drug activity, and trafficking. Every day, we meet people facing addiction, homelessness, mental illness, and poverty.
These same people, though, are beautiful and vibrant examples of God's Creation, and we seek to treat them as such. Our friends on the street, in the jails, and in rehab deserve love, care, and support. They deserve to feel worthy of a better life. They deserve to feel the love of a Savior.

When did atlas begin?
The first Atlas was founded in 2000 by a group of people who wanted to serve their community. Today, there are more than 12 ATLAS's in different communities across the US founded often in the same way. The idea of Atlas: Lincoln began in 2017 and was founded in 2018. It is born out of the combination of seen needs, experienced mentoring success, and the dreams of a group of people who want to serve their community.
how do we pursue our mission?
Atlas is not a counseling agency, but works with other professional counseling and support organizations in cases where professional assistance is needed. Atlas works with churches and resource organizations to meet the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of people.
We want to address all the needs one person may have in order to best allow for a full and sustainable life to be achieved.
We believe that there is a great core of Christ followers in Lincoln that can help make this ministry flourish and see the kingdom expanded, one person at a time.

how does this build the kingdom?
We envision that the local body of believers will be built up as Christ followers by having a means to walk alongside of people who are in a time of need.
We imagine that if a church provides four volunteer mentors that after one year at least two of the clients will be attending the church these volunteer mentors attend. Why? Because of the relational connection, Atlas is about building the Kingdom, not one specific church.
